DSI Home Office

In 2007, DSI moved office locations to an existing 50 year old warehouse. The goal of the renovation project was to enhance the property aesthetically with a focus on environmental consideration. The design approach included enlarging some existing overhead doors to create more daylighting throughout the space. We also installed dual flushing toilets, added sunshades above the south facing windows to control direct sunlight, and planted a community garden for employee use. DSI is committed to decreasing our potable water consumption, so we installed 4 rain barrels around the perimeter of the building to capture rainwater and HVAC condensation to use for irrigation. We also replaced the existing parking lot pavement and put down 4,000 square feet of pervious concrete which decreases stormwater runoff. Through a dedicated recycling program that all employees have access to, we have been able to prevent much of our office waste from ending up in a landfill. These are just a few of the relatively simple ways we can be more environmentally conscious.
